Suggestions so far... More welcome!

Thanks for all the great suggestions! Keep posting under comments. I will use further suggestions for future weeks.

I have listed the suggestions, and have included a poll (see left) so you can vote for what I should wear in week one (wow – it starts next week). Check out the suggestions page to see more suggestions as they come in.

Here are my fave suggestions (updated with the results of the first week's poll)
  • A different colour each day of the week - 2 votes
  • All black (Italian Nonna) - 0 votes
  • All green (a week 1 suggestion in the lead up to St Pat’s day) - 4 votes
  • An era a day (50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, noughties, now) - 4 votes
  • Bogan (Shazza from Queanbeyan / Cath n Kim) - 2 votes
  • Country Alex - 1 vote
  • Cross-dressing (masculine chic) - 4 votes
  • Fashion faux-pas (blue and green, spots and stripes, socks and sandals) - 3 votes
  • Film looks (looks inspired by films, eg Matrix, Atonement, Alice in Wonderland, Wizard of Oz) - 2 votes
  • Goth / Emo / Punk - 2 votes
  • Hipster - 2 votes
  • Nerd (‘Urkle’ / Unix Nerd) - 2 votes
  • Pop stars (looks inspired by pop stars, eg Gaga, Spice Girls, Madge) - 0 votes
  • Shabby chic (boho, op-shop) - 2 votes
Some other great suggestions that I wont be supporting include:
  • Victorian Era – My wardrobe doesn’t really support this...
  • Wizard of Oz – Dorothy only wears one outfit thru the whole movie, and I’m not dressing as a munchkin, witch, lion, scarecrow or tin man. I can incorporate this suggestion into the ‘Film looks’ suggestion.
  • Red carpet – I don’t mind glamming it up for a ball or charity event every now and then, but it would take hours to get dressed and I have a hard enough time getting to work before mid day as it is.
  • Feral pest – again, I don’t really have the wardrobe to support this (although I do have a very wrong fox-fur stole and a rabbit-fur-edged scarf)
  • Dame Edna, or Gaga meets Camilla Parker Bowles – I have only 2 pairs of reading glasses and neither are really conducive to doing the Dame justice. I’m afraid I don’t have the way-out accessories to be able to rival Lady Gaga either. Perhaps I'd make it for a day under the ‘Pop stars’ category, but that would probably be it.

  1. How about girly-girl, sporty gym-junkie or roller-derby skater girl? I just know you'd love to wear your new skates everywhere. Dang!

  2. If you do a different colour each day, then you can incorporate the green theme for St Patrick's Day on St Patrick's Day! And have a Rainbow week! It kills like half the birds!

On an almost related note, do you associate days of the week with colours? St Pats day is on a Thursday, which feels like it should be a yellow day. And yellow is associated with thinking, but who thinks on Thursdays?

  4. Loving the masculine chic! So not too much of a challenge so far for you Alex. The roller derby pics are fab too!

Another suggestion (if it's not too late): "dressing blind". You have to get dressed in the dark every day - or at least choose your clothes in the dark. No lights, might have to do it the night before if you get up late, stick your hand in your wardrobe/drawer/shelf and whatever you pull out is what you wear!
