Week 3 Day 3: Wednesday - An era a day: 30s

I did some research for the 1930s. It's not authentic (the shoes need to be cuban heels and chunkier, and the skirt needs to be longer), but I think I capture the feel OK, given what I have in my wardrobe.

I have a Zac Posen for Target bright red silk pussy-cat bow blouse. The detailing at the front of the shirt is remarkable. It's a truly beautiful shirt.

I am wearing it with a grey wool pleated skirt. Another op-shop find.
Applying some perfume using an old fashioned atomiser.
Accessories are a patent leather skinny belt from Sportsgirl and Bally flat leather shoes. Bally make spectacular leather products.
I'm wearing the vintage stockings I wore on Monday. I am glad to not have to wear these again. They're fun, but they are short, unlike the stockings you get these days, and the nylon does not have the same comfortable stretch as they do with today's modern materials.
The hat is a grey felt cloche I have had for a long time. I am carrying an Oroton o-style handbag. The hat and hair are what really make this outfit 30s.
Gold, enamel and diamond hoops.
A christmas present from my parents last year.

Week 3 Day 2: Tuesday- An era a day: 80s

Back in the 80s! It's all about the shoulder pads and pointy shoes.
I'm even sitting on an 80s cane rocking chair. It rocks!
I'm wearing a teal sheer silk chiffon blouse from Sportsgirl. This thing has some crazy shoulder pads. It's teamed with a high-waisted wool skirt by Matthew Eager I found at an op-shop years ago.
It's hard to do 'big hair' when it's quite short, so I've slicked the sides back. Big clip-on enamel and gold earrings I borrowed from my mum.

Hard to see, but I've got the 80s bright makeup on. Green eyeshadow, fuscia lips and quite a pronounced pink blush.

The belt is from Stella McCartney's collection for Target from 2010. It works as 80s belts were very wide.
Fishnet stockings are worn with these very pointy leather shoes I bought in Florence.

Now, while I'm not entering the following outfit into the challenge, and I'm not going to comment on the clothes (unless someone asks), I thought I'd show a more way-out 80s outfit I wore to a fancy dress party a few months back.

80s also signalled the era of 'fluro'. Just thought I'd include a couple of pics for fun.

Week 3 Day 1: Monday - An era a day: 40s

Thanks to Wonky (Susan) for suggesting this week's theme. It's going to be a challenging, but fun week. Today I'm back in the 1940s.
A busy day. First I had a cup of tea. I'm wearing a beige twinset I picked up from a boutique in Paris with a vintage Sportscraft wool skirt I picked up from an op shop many years ago.
Applied a little makeup. On my head I'm wearing a scarf I bought from a little shop in Venice.
Lovely vintage marcasite compact my sister bought me.
It came from the Canberra Antiques Centre
Red nails and lips set off the pretty pearl necklace. I know they're old fashioned, but I do love pearls. I'm also wearing a brooch I borrowed from my mum.

Getting dressed I slipped on a pair of vintage seamed stockings.

I picked these up from ebay. They're true vintage. Cuban heel and all.

Vintage stockings from ebay
Time to do a little flower arranging. I guess that's what keeps gals in the 1940s busy.
These shoes are hot! They're another pair of Mogil heels, blue suede with tan kid-leather trim and laces. I got them from a boutique in Brisbane's Southbank.
After all that hard work, it's time for a wee drink. Hehe. Actually, I did work today. I also had to pop into Uni to drop an assignment off. Yup, I did get a couple of funny looks.
I had fun dressing up today!

Week 2 summary - Masculine Chic

Week 2's challenge, Masculine Chic, was a bit of fun.

Monday: Grey tie and pearl-buttoned shirt

Tuesday: 'Doily' shirt and Moschino tie
Wednesday: Gangsta chic? Purple reign
Thursday: red striped shirt
Friday: casual friday vest
Saturday: Funky feather braces

Sunday: Fedora and jeans
I had a good week. It's a lot easier to dress like a guy than it is to dress like a girl, especially on work days. It's just a matter of 'which shirt and tie do I wear today?'

Week 2 Day 7: Sunday - Masculine chic

The last day of masculine chic! I had a pretty casual day today. Wore my True Religion jeans, white tank from Cotton On and beige wool Sportsgirl cardigan.
I'm wearing this very cool retro brown cord fedora I picked up from the Canberra Antique Centre.

Love the feather detail in this retro hat
I've also got my Manzoni tan bag. The leather is buttery soft. The colouring is beautiful.
It's a great Sunday outfit. Comfy and I feel stylin.
The shoes are cute and comfy Colorado leather wedges. Comfy comfy comfy is in order for Sunday.

Week 2 Day 6: Saturday - Masculine chic

I had a lazy day today.

I thought I'd post a few pics of what I slothed around in today. Certainly not very chic, but does kinda fit the 'masculine' genre.

My 'Atari' undies (purchased online) are actually boy undies (hence the 'pocket' wrinkles). They're super comfy. I'm wearing with a cotton ribbed singlet from Cotton On and a Puma fleece hoodie. Perfect for dagging around the house.

Here are some pics of what I wore out Saturday night: a grey Cotton On singlet, black skinny-leg jeans from True Religion and these awesome braces I picked up from Dangerfield.

Shoes are silver laser-cut leather flats from Witchery. Flat shoes are great for playing pool. It was a fun night.

I painted my nails. I missed not having colour on my nails. This bright red shade is from Chanel. Their polishes are great quality and easy to apply.
An assortment of chunky rings and bracelets with Chanel red nails
I love the feather detail on these Dangerfield braces

Week 2 Day 5: Friday - Masculine chic

It's the last day of the working week. I've gone 'casual Friday' today. Back to the in-car shots with my 'manly' mirrored aviators.
Jeans are always good for a Friday, unless there's a meeting going on. I'm wearing them with a cheap cotton checked shirt from Sussan and an op-shop tweed vest.
I love these jeans. So much so that I bought 5 pairs when I was in the US last year. These are True Religion 'Billy' jeans. Really comfy to wear and a great cut.
This bag is also from an op-shop. It's kinda retro
I'm reviewing my editing assignment. So close to just going to sleep. These shoes by Mogil are some of my faves. They make really unique and funky footwear.
Tan self-tie peep-toe pumps by Mogil
So glad it's Friday. I have a little bit of study to do tomorrow, but apart from that, am ready to go out and have some fun.

Week 2 Day 4: Thursday - Masculine chic

This whole masculine chic thing is starting to get to me. I'm not sure which bathrooms I should be using at work!
I'm wearing a red striped french-cuffed shirt from Jigsaw, and a Thai silk tie (brand unknown). Jigsaw make some beautiful clothing.
I have ankle-grazing wool herringbone patterned pants from Cue. I love these pants. They're so versatile and with the pleated high waist, so very comfy to wear.
Accessories are a Country Road black leather belt and AM-to-PM Airflex red patent leather shoes.
I like the buckle detail on this belt..
Again, I've done the tie clip. It's a gold one I've borrowed from my dad
Yeah, I'm having fun with masculine chic. I got a few comments from some African dignitaries who were visiting work today. They were a bit surprised by my outfit.
I call these my 'ruby slippers' - like Dorothy wears in the Wizard of Oz.
These shoes are so good I bought a pair in a taupe colour.
The cufflinks are a family heirloom graciously lent to me. I was terrified of losing them.
