Week 1 summary - All Green

All in all, the week in green was very easy to accomplish.

Monday: Public holiday lazy day

Tuesday: Wussed out with just a green cardi

Wednesday: A better effort

Thursday: St Patrick's Day

Friday: Casual and relaxed at work

Saturday: Loooove these silk pants

Sunday: partying til the wee hours

I have quite a few more items I didn't wear; a beautiful wool and mohair jumper (still a bit warm for that) and a great dress with leather shoulder details amongst other things.

I probably could have done green month, but I am looking forward to wearing a different shade!

Week 1 Day 7: Sunday - All Green

I went to the rollerderby with two of my sisters and my brother last night.

A crowd of 3500 at the Australian Institute of Sport. Not bad!

I didn't get to the fancy dress party til almost midnight, so it's fitting that I post the pics under today's entry.

I went as a derby-girl. I totally greened up. Even bright green bra and undies (no pics of those!). Fake tattoos (I'm a clean skin) and pads to boot.

The singlet and skirt appeared earlier in the week. What's new is the pair of bright green and black striped 'Sourpuss' socks I picked up from a skate shop called 'Da Klinic' in Adelaide. 

I also picked up my new Riedell skates at 'Da Klinic'.
Being green, it's a good excuse for me to show them off.

A great lazy day after a late night at the party. I slept in til after mid-day and basically lazed around. Took off the nailpolish in preparation for next week's theme.

Week 1 Day 6: Saturday - All Green

Lazy day today. Hung around home, went to the shops to get dress-up stuff for a party I'm going to tonight. I'm going to the roller derby before the party, so I'll go as roller derby girl. :) I'll post more on that tomorrow, cos I think it will be a late night.

I have my absolute favourite pants on today. They are dark green silk cargo pants I bought (for a bargain price of about $20 from Sportsgirl) about a decade ago.

They are starting to give in the seams and I have been looking EVERYWHERE for a replacement pair, to no avail.

I am at a point where I'm going to get them sent off to a tailor I went to in Thailand and ask them to make me a few pairs in different colours. Yes, I love them that much. 

I wore with a singlet from Cotton On. Shoes are a pair of gold leather beaded sandals.

I am wearing a necklace I bought from a cheap jewellery store (I think it was Diva or some kind of similar outlet). I like the tangled look of this piece and the charms are sweet. What's more, it's green.

Week 1 Day 5: Friday - All Green

TGIF! 3 items of green today, excluding my green bag and green nails.

Comfy casual friday, well, comfy is not counting the shoes. I'm wearing my 'pyjama pants'. Satiny and light cotton cropped cargos from Sportsgirl, cotton cropped jacket, also from Sportsgirl and very bright green ribbed modal singlet from Portmans.

These pants are fab! So comfy. Great for plane trips.

I've had this jacket for a while. I like the puff-sleeve detail and oversized buttons. It also has cute floral lining.

I picked up the water-colour-like floral print scarf from a market stall in venice years ago. The colours pick up all shades of green. I like the length.

The shoes are not comfy and don't get much wear, but hey - it's green week. A good excuse to step out in them. They're designed by Yeojin Bae for Target and were released a few seasons ago. Collaborations between designers and high-street or chain-retail stores are becoming increasingly popular. Peter Morrissey is doing stuff with Big W at the moment and Dion Lee has just released a range with Cue. I'm yet to check that out.

Apart from not being that comfy, these Yeojin Bae designed shoes
do not get out much as the colour is very difficult to wear.

Week 1 Day 4: Thursday - All Green

Top of tha dee to yeh! Happy St Patrick's day.

Not many green items today, but the amount of material
and the vibrancy of the colour should make up for it.

A pretty summer dress and as I've got the cardi for work, the modesty factor and bit of warmth against the air-con, well, taken care of.

This is a Cue viscose dress. It drapes beautifully and is very comfy to wear. I had meetings today, so apart from not wanting to freeze my butt off in the meeting room,

I wanted to have a bit of cover up, as it's a pretty low-cut neckline. So I paired with this Country Road 3/4 sleeve wool/cotton knit cream cardi. I button up in meetings but don't really like hiding the lovely bodice detail that makes the dress quite unique.

Although I know it's a fashion faux-pas to be too 'matchy matchy' I do like the retro feel of wearing these sandals with this purse. Both are finds from op-shops and are some of my favourite pieces.

These are super duper comfy. The heel detail makes them special

The handbag is ostrich leather. Ooooh I just love the texture.

This cost me $20 from the Salvos and it's magically crafted.
I've had it for over a decade. The suede lining is divine.

So all up, my outfit got me through a full day's meeting and I felt I celebrated St Pat's day without ending up too green around the gills tomorrow (thanks Susan!).

Week 1 Day 3: Wednesday - All Green

Doin it right, I've got on 4 items that are markedly green, and that doesn't include the nails!

Some may say khaki is not green (my mother: 'that's not greeeeen'). This Calvin Klein a-line shirt dress is a very light khaki, and is made with a beautiful satin-like cotton. It's a versatile, easy piece to wear.



This dress is great. It can be worn
with a turtleneck under in winter too



I'm wearing a green viscose-cotton bolero I bought a while ago from a cheap n nasty teen store.



Bolero adds a bit of coverage for work wear



As a rule, I generally don't do pleather.
Seldomly I make an exception
and this bag is one of the few.
I just loved the colour.
The trick with vinyl is to get texture.
It's more supple and closer to looking like leather.



 Accessories are a Sussan bag, cheap resin ring, Witchery leather double-strand studded cuff and Oroton belt. 

I love the colour of this bag, and I kinda like the clash of the yellow-green belt.

 

While the colour of this belt is different to the other accessories,
the croc-skin texture allows for the tones to be picked up.
I kinda like the clash in any case.

I thought I'd put a bit of colour on my eyes this morning. I seldom wear eyeshadow. Just a slick of mascara and I'm out the door.

On my feet I'm wearing a pair of vintage green suede mary-janes. Comfy!

Week 1 Day 2: Tuesday - All Green

Continuing the theme of all green into Tuesday, I didn't do anyone proud today. A shameful effort, I wore an easy outfit (I wouldn't even call it that!) I'd ordinarily wear.

It consisted of my grey Zara pin-stripe pants, white Bonds sleeveless vest tank and my bright green Country Road wool cardi.

Accessories were sparse. Nine West peep-toe lace-up pumps and Gucci belt.

 



Zara makes great clothes. High fashion from the high street.
It's affordable, and best of all, cut to European figures
so the pants are long enough for me!



I wore a Tiffany silver chain with 2 of their famous key pendants and a little heart charm.



Wearing it gives me special memories of shopping on Fifth Avenue NY with my lovely mum.


That's right! The green was represented in one sole item. Granted it's a very vibrant green and it's a beautiful soft wool in a great knit, but it's still just one item. I can't even claim yesterday's nailpolish as it will be with me throughout this week.

So, feeling the guilt at not putting in a decent effort, I thought I'd better use green post-it tags when marking up my work today.
